Just say the word from where you are...

The Faith of a Roman Officer

When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer[a] came and pleaded with him, “Lord, my young servant[b] lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain.”

Jesus said, “I will come and heal him.”

But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.”

10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all Israel!

I did what Jesus did for the centurion- he sent the word by saying it and his servant was healed that very instance…I said the word in prayer, now you receive your healing with thanksgiving!

Recently, my wife, Sarah, and I had an amazing time going to a church in Kingston, where I was invited to preach on healing. The Rev asked me to preach on the story of the centurion who had a dying servant, where Jesus just 'said the word and his servant was healed' at a distance. I preached that same word and recounted to the congregation a testimony of how one of my employees, who was a Muslim (some years back, when I had an Electrical Contracting Business), had a bad back and couldn’t move - so had to lie on the floor for a week.

He kept asking me to come and pray for him to be healed. He had been healed many times before when I prayed for him, so was keen for me to pray for him in the same way he was accustomed, with me laying hands on him and commanding healing into his body I was so busy all week I had no time, and now it was Friday. On Friday nights Sarah and I usually pray; so, whilst praying, I was asking the Lord : 'shall I drive an hour or more into London and pray for him? He answered me and said: ‘no, just say word and he will be healed’.

Just then, Sarah said she was led of the Lord to read a scripture and she read it out aloud to me and it was: 'just say the word from where you are and my servant will be healed' (Math 8:8 NLT), so confirming God's instruction to me. So, I sent a text message with that scripture verse and typed these words to my employee: 'receive your healing in Jesus name according to this word'. He messaged back to say that as soon as he read the message, received the word, the pain and incapacity in his back left him and he was healed! He was back at work on Monday morning.

At the end of the preaching the message, I asked everyone to stand up and spoke or sent the word’ over the congregation, by declaring healing to their bodies and asked who noticed something change in their bodies….at least 5 people put their hands up indicating they were healed, but I am sure there were more.

So, don't allow yourself to be limited in the way you may pray for the sick let it be with you!
